Light often symbolizes well being, dispelling darkness and giving illumination.
David was hopeful of God’s saving grace when under attack, he knew his Faithful God would not forsake him.
Even though his adversaries were all around him and spreading lies, he was so confident of the Lord’s protection and defence and therefore was not afraid. He encourages himself with the following verse
“In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” Psalms 56:4
Jesus Christ came as the light of the world (John 8:12) and has now made us the light of the world to give hope and light to those who are in darkness. Great responsibility!
Dear Father, You are our Refuge and Fortress, our Sun and Shield, may we completely trust and believe in your word so that in times of crisis we’ll find strength to hope in your salvation in Jesus’ name Amen!
